Note: JOSEPHUS COLVIN was my great grandfather. Called Joe C , he was saidto have been a strong man with big hands. He died at age 45 yearsand 4 months according to his death certificate #5744, of TyphoidFever. Family members have thought he died of stomach cancer, so hemay well have had that prior to the fever. I have a photo of him--avery-nice looking man. My grandmother Cordie, looked a lot like him,as does my son Ron. Josephus was the son of Henderson and Mary EllenWise COLVIN--she was the daughter of Ignatious Wise and Cloe Short.Cloe was a sister to Rebecca Short Bright.

His first wife, Maggie Ellen HARDESTY, died in childbirth with MaggieCOLVIN. They were the parents of my grandmother Cordi Jane COLVINHORTON. Their son James Handley is still living -- just celebratedhis 95th birthday!

Josephus married Betty "Sudie" MCNEAR after Maggie Ellen died. Theyhad one son named Walter COLVIN who lives in Louisville, KY. "Joe C"and Maggie Ellen is buried at the Wise Graveyard {Brown Cemetery} onthe C.B. O'Sullivan farm at Spurlington, KY.
