Note: The Benjamin who married Polly Brownfield was son of William Thurman,who died 1809/10 in Wilkes County, GA, and his wife Susannah ____(somesay Brown, but not accepted by DAR). This Benjamin was hung in ClarkeCounty, GA in 1815 for the murder of Daniel Trammell, who had marriedJohn Brownfield's widow, and was cheating Benjamin & Polly, andBenjamin's brother Micajah and his wife out of their share of theestate of Brownfield. Polly raised the orphans John Browning Thurmanand James Mitchell Thurman, but she did not ever remarry.
