John Russell, son of Andrew Russell, is thought to be thefather of Mary
Russell. John Russell was married to Elizabeth Swink,daughter of
Lawrence and Margaret Swink. Jane ? also was married to aJohn
Russell and was mother of Mary Russell. She may have beenthe wife of
John Russell before or after he married Elizabeth Swink.John Russell
was baptized at the Tinkling Springs Meeeting HouseCongregation in
Fishersville Virginia on 24 February 1748 by the Rev.JohnCraig. Other
children in Andrew Russell's family were Andrew, Robert,Martha,
Joshua and William. Andrew Russell was a member of theTinkling
Springs Meeting House, Fisherville, Augusta County,Virginia, in 1744.

A Samuel Russell was born in Augusta County, Virginia, andwas the son
of John Russell and Elizabeth Swink Russell. This SamueRussell later
settled in Campbellsville, Kentucky. In 1810 census Samuelwas the only
Russell family head listed in Green County, Kentucky. Ibelieve this is
the same Samuel Russell who married Rebecca Litman 2 October1804
in Marcer County, Kentucky.

Henderson James Colvin and his wife, Mary, came to Kentuckyin 1794
and resided in Green County. At this point they had three oftheir 11
children with them who were born in Frederick County,Virginia. Mary's
father, John Russell, also settled in Campbellsville but thedate is
unknown.

Mary Russell and Samuel Russell were probably brother andsister.
Henderson James Colvin is documented to be the uncle ofSamuel
Russell Lawrence, whose mother was Rosanna Russell. Thjiswould
make Mary Russell Colvin sister to Rosanna Russell, howeverno birth
records have been located to prove that John Russell andwife, Elizabeth
Swink or Jane? are the parents of Rosanna Russell.

Baptism: 24 FEB 1748 by Rev. John Craig at Tinkling Springs, Fishersville, VA.
