Many stories and descriptions of the family were told to me by Ruby Turner in the 1980's

Before the battle of Perryville troops camped around Harrison Turner's home (old Turner homestead) and all along the ridge. They were so dusty and tired looking. Louisa told the girls to go to the spring and get the milk and butter but the spring was empty. All the butter, milk and water was gone. The commander of the troops asked Harrison if he had any horses, he said "yes". The commander said go get your horses and tie them to the fence. Troops from the other side is about and will get your horses and you will never see them again. Harrison got his horses and tied them to the fence Troops camped around the house. Sarah cooked all night to feed the troops.. Tom was a baby-a few months old. Louisa had him asleep in the cradle when a burley soldier came in the house and started to sit down on the end of the cradle and lay back on the baby.
